Why would anyone want to visit Serbia?? Given it’s long and bloody history, anyone would have reservations and wonder what is there to discover in a post-war, post -communist country in Eastern Europe.
But why ever not?
What’s not to discover in a country with a long and varied heritage ranging from Roman conquerors to being ruled by the Ottoman Turks, the Austro Hungarian empire, the Communists and then a genocidal Dictator.
And I am more than pleasantly surprised.
For one, it’s the visa on arrival. Wow. I haven’t had such a happy experience in a while. Applying for a Schengen is like applying for leave from jail. They treat you with so much suspicion, you almost want to show them the finger. Sanity prevails, and you flood them with paperwork instead.
Imagine just sailing through immigration and being welcomed as a tourist?? I shall savour the warm, fuzzy feeling for a long, long time.
